Week 5: Free Choice - Debate: Junk Food – Good or Bad?

Should we eat junk food or not? For me, I should not! Because I know it will surely create a big problem for me.
 
I have seen our relatives and friends in our family gatherings who avoid drinking soft drinks. Why? Because they have either diabetes or heart problems. When I hear them saying that they cannot drink I really feel sorry for them. 
 
Well, let’s have a small debate about it! I will tell you about why I choose ‘NO’ and you tell me what you want ‘NO or YES’ by commenting!
  
Junk food attracts everyone. You can have it once in a while but if you eat too much of that, it is not good for your health at all! 
 
Wait did I tell you what is junk food? Well, no. So here we are! Junk food is sugary food. It is fatty food or you can say cheesy or deep fried food. Food that contains high levels of calories. I think now you got the idea!
 
I also sometimes get attracted towards junk food. Believe me, it takes a lot of patience to keep yourself away from eating junk food. But then I always think about my weight! It sure is easy to increase your weight but then it is really HARD to decrease it back! And once you are overweight, your body will ask for more food and because of that it gets hard to control. Junk food sure looks delicious but actually it ruins your life.
 
Once your weight increases your health problems also start.  Many things can happen, like you will have heart problems, diabetes, and high blood pressure etc, which are risky for your life! Also your over weight will not only cause health issues but you won’t be able to play sports either. And I love playing sporty games, that is why I avoid eating junk foods.
 
To conclude I would say if you like junk food, eat once a week provided you do exercise or play sporty games as well. 
 
I have explained why I chose ‘NO’. Now it is your turn to speak!

I liked how you expressed your feelings about the subject. I think that junk food can be good if you eat it right and not get carried away. If a food has a lot of calories then I think it is not considered junk food because what if it's a steak. I really like how you explain what junk food is. To answer your question No. I don't think you should eat junk food all of the time. I hardly ever eat junk food, and when I do I don't get much. What is your favorite fast food place?

I really loves how you put your opinion out there! For me, I'm a skinny guy and I eat way more than my friends and its, most of the time, junk food. I never get fat though. I don't workout or anything but I stay skinny. Should I stop eating it too?

Anisha I liked in your blog post how you told your opinion too. I also like how you talked about your family. In my family no one has diabetes or anything like that but my cousin can't eat eggs so he is not aloud to have a lot of junk food. If I had to pick if I like junk food or not I would pick no I do not.

Junk food is the one food I'm against but I will admit I do eat a few candy bars here and there. Because of health problems and diabetes, I am strongly against a large amount of junk food. This is actually a very controversial topic that's being debated widely. I really love how your post has a proper introduction, so the reader has a basic knowledge on how junk food can affect our lives. I personally do agree with you. I believe that we can have junk food if we have it in moderation, and burn it off.

I really liked your argument against junk food, but I also wanted to put in that sometimes junk food is healthy. Dark chocolate is good for the heart, and we need a little bit of junk food to get our required amount of fat in our diet.

Hi Anisha! I have to say I agree with you. Many people however believe that you should not have it at all. I do sports so I can eat a whole bunch of it and not gain an ounce. Hi! I like eating pizza. Pizza is my favorite junk! But then to not increase my weight and cause problem, I eat pizza only once a month or maybe after two or three month.

I agree with you we should cut down on Junk food.Junk food is very bad for you but you can have it 1 ever 2 or 3 days but it is up to your adult to determine when you can have junk food.It is not good for ower bodys because we need a lot of energy but it is hard when you eat a lot and you get tierd fast wich is not good you need to work out to burn it al down be cause it will lead to diabetes.

I really like your blog posts. Your introduction a very clear and it give basic information as to what junk food is. I also really like how your clearly state your opinion and give facts. I really do agree with you. Members of my family also have diabetes. I also agree with the fact that people can have junk food in moderation, but who still be aware that too much has consequences. Hi Anisha! I agree with you on this topic. If you are eating Junk Food all the time, your body will get addicted and will ask for more. At the moment, I am eating healthy foods for snacks, dinner, etc. I am eating white rice to help maintain my body. It says brown rice is better for you, but it is actually not! Brown rice is high in phytic acid, which is acid that makes food harder to digest. It doesn't help with cavities, either. Just a fun fact!

I can tell the effort you have put into this debate and definitely, because it can get way to addictive, you will always be on sugar high and you can get several types of cancer.

Junk food is horrible, and same as fast food. Junk food has a whole bunch of Sugar, salt, fat, and calories. Eating junk food daily will increase your weight. When your weight increases you are in risk with health problems. Fast food is also horrible, because the people who make the food add preservatives. Preservatives make the food look good, but it actually makes the food much more unhealthy. I agree with you that people should not be eating junk food and fast food, and they should exercise to stay healthy.

Hi Anisha,

After reading your post, I'm kind of in the middle. I do agree that eating junk food on a regular basis will definitely harm your body. However, eating junk food once in a while won't harm your body tremendously. Although junk food will cause heart problems and conditions like that, it will most likely only happen if you eat foods like McDonalds and ice cream everyday. Having just some frozen yogurt once or twice a week won't do that much harm. I also agree that it will prevent you from doing physical activity. That would be so sad because I believe that sports are really fun. If you are going to eat some junk food, exercising also really helps to burn off calories.

With that being said, what sports do you like to play?
